is a tool, an archive, and a curated showcase that aims to make typefaces from female, lesbian, inter, non-binary, trans*, and agender designers from all over the world more easily accessible. We believe that through the use of
F=female, L=lesbians, I=inter-, N=non-binary, T=trans, A=agender
FLINTA* typefaces, marginalised designers in graphic design will be supported, made visible, and re-inscribed into history.
Choosing a typeface is a decision of many factors, and by implementing typeface into graphic design its creation context should be applied deliberately. European type classics like Helvetica, Universe or Times are often described as »neutral« typefaces. By being used in complete design solutions, the Eurocentrically dominated norm of Western and male dominated graphic design is reproduced. Therefore it rather reinforces patriarchal structures in graphic design instead of moving forward the artistic discourse. The search for FLINTA* type design is a commitment, and we are all aware that sometimes this isn't easy. All the more,

wants to empower the graphic design scene to question common structures and break free from them, trying to shorten and diversify individual type research.
We are aware that the website, as we designed it in 2022, creates many barriers for people with physical or cognitive disabilities. We have various ideas for how we would like to expand the website with accessible features. Unfortunately, we currently lack the financial resources to implement them. We are working on finding a solution and greatly appreciate any support.

is a fully volunteer-run project. If you are in a position to support the preservation and growth of the archive financially, we are sincerely grateful for any contributions.

is an ongoing project by Lilot Kammermeier, Sophia Krayc, Coco Lobinger and Hannah Witte. The website was programmed by Laila Kamil.
